Don't worry that children never listen to you; worry that they are always watcing you. --Robert Fulghum
A person's a person, no matter how small. --Dr. Seuss
The girls love for me to take them to Exhale Spa where I workout and use their pool and showers. So, I took them and a friend and they had so much fun. There favorite part tho is not the pool, it's the shower, using their complimentary orange and lemon infused water, razors, shampoo, brushes, deodorants, etc. It's hilarious. They got Shirley Temples on the house this time. Happy girls.
Here they are in the sauna.
We did an IKEA run and they were having face painting. The girls helped him and told the artist he wanted to be a dinosaur. The lady got demonic! He was so scary looking he even scared kids at Skyline at volleyball after. He came to me and said, "Mommy, take this off I don't want to scare anyone. Poor dude."
Lexi's friends came over just to kill time and hang out. They lost their minds and dressed up, got goofy then went to the park dressed like this...And made this terrible video with AG's assistance.
We love going to the Zoo. Whitaker would go everyday if he could. Our membership was about to expire so we snuck one more trip in until we renew next year... We went on the hottest day of the summer, but we did alright. It was fun this last time, we fed the giraffe's. The sad part is we were there 2 days before the baby giraffe died. :-( But, the Dallas Zoo is the best zoo I have ever visited and we are lucky it is so close.
We saw a tamed porcupine. TOO CUTE!
The zoo has an awesome nature exchange program. Anderson brought in a quartz crystal he had and the guy gave him an awesome lesson on the stones and let him look at it under a microscope. Then finally, he gave him 2,000 points for it. So, Anderson brought home a cow skull, sand from Egypt and now has 100 points left for next time!
The kids go to The Pines Catholic Camp every summer, but this summer Ainsley Grace was wait listed. It was really heart breaking. The coordinator thought she would eventually get in but it did not happen. So, we encouraged her to come up with a list of alternative activities or something she would like to buy since we are not spending the money for her to go to camp this year. She decided to do a Circus Camp! AND buy a Lululemon Backpack for school!!! ;-)
The camp was really cool, it was neat all the things they taught them. One family traveled from Mexico just to do this camp. Another family came in from Brazil! It was super fun, AG said this camp "was a ball!!!!"
My phone ran out of space so I couldn't record her demonstration with the music so I had her do it a second time using her phone. Not quite the same but you get the gist. The last little flippy thing made everyone take a deep breath when she did it.
The guy took pity on Whit and let him try!
We hung out with the sweet family from Mexico during the week since they were traveling. They came to the pool with us and their 3 boys played with Whitaker a lot. Here is AG with Valaria and her other friend.
This year was Anderson's first year to attend The Pines. He LOVED it. The theme this year was Made To Thrive. What a perfect sentiment. The Pines is such a special place. He told me one of his favorite things was in the chapel, he knew when Jesus was present because they lit the red candle. It helped him know when to be even more reverent and he really liked it. I showed him the tabernacle door at church this weekend, it's not red candle but still a visual indicator.
Here are pictures of them with their friends and with their camp counselors.
At the end of the week I had a Mom's night out and we had sooo much fun dancing and hanging out laughing!!! But, that day we got the terrible news that our cousin Emma hurt her hand pretty badly where she had to be admitted into the hospital because of infection. We sent her a cow and balloons. She is so adorable even when sick. And she is all better now. Praise God!
We finally made our way to New Orleans for the big weekend of wedding festivities. Maura said her first wedding she attended was our wedding. It's fun to watch the circle of life. We stayed at a super swank hotel and the kids wasted no time putting on the robes and slippers and "resting" from our long trip. Whitaker wanted to take a bath and play in the bathtub. haha.
We hit the streets of NOLA and did some shopping and found a Geo cache right in the middle of the French Quarter. It was a fun hunt.
Later in the evening we got dressed up and went to the Reshersal and Reshersal dinner. It was a really fun night with fantastic food and sweet and clever toasts to Maura nd Paul. Such sweet and beautiful sentiments about their upcoming union.
The next day we connected with our cousins and walked around some more. The boys were a bigger scene then the street performers. ;) The kids got their palms read and tarot cards. It was fun!
That night we went to a welcome party for all of their close friends and family. It was so much fun. Maura's friends kept asking her if she was related to Lexi. They are unofficial twins now. That was a great party and it was fun to bring Alexandra. She had a great time drinking Shirley Temples and hanging out with the adults. Her and Stan got a little crazy walking home on Bourbon Street!
Finally the big moment arrived. The wedding was GORGEOUS. Gorgeous church, beautiful ceremony and a wonderful priest. They will make a wonderful Catholic couple. They are now one! Whitaker did a great job bringing the ring down the isle. It was adorable! The reception was just as fantastic with a ton of great dancing!
After the reception, we took a Pedicab ride home. It was so fun! Great time in NOLA this trip. Congratulations to Maura and Paul! We were honored to be a part of such an important time in your life. #onemohkepper
Just a mom trying to instill a love of learning into my children and help them grow in character and love, while keeping them innocent, in a world that is saturated in moral relativism.
I'll be updating things out here on occasion. Family life can be so funny, I have to capture it somehow. Scrap booking one day, hopefully. In the meantime...
Why Lulu ? ? ?
Farside anyone?
Mrs. O'Leary's ill fated cow; her name was Lulu.
While she happily moseyed along in the pasture, she got her head stuck in a bucket. Her foot stuck in the fence. She tripped over a rock. Stan has called me Lulu for a looong time. Who knew how fitting it was when it started!?
Who's yer Daddy?
Man of the haas. His biggest goal in life is to become a crotchety old man and shake a stick at little kids as they walk by... :-) And, pass out quarters....

Can we have a moment of silence for the honorable President Ronald Reagan
Democracy is worth dying for, because it's the most deeply honorable form of government ever devised by man.
Government always finds a need for whatever money it gets.
The most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I'm here to help.
Within the covers of the Bible are all the answers for all the problems men face.
Man is not free unless government is limited.
We are never defeated unless we give up on God.
I have wondered at times what the Ten Commandments would have looked like if Moses had run them through the US Congress.
We have the duty to protect the life of an unborn child.
I've noticed that everyone who is for abortion has already been born
A taste of some Maria Montessori's Wisdom
The task of the educator lies in seeing that the child does not confound good with immobility and evil with activity.
We must help the child to liberate himself from his defects without making him feel his weakness.
Children are human beings to whom respect is due, superior to us by reason of their innocence and of the greater possibilities of their future.
The adult ought never to mold the child after himself, but should leave him alone and work always from the deepest comprehension of the child himself.
No social problem is as universal as the oppression of the child. We must, therefore, quit our roles as jailers and instead take care to prepare an environment in which we do as little as possible to exhaust the child with our surveillance and instruction.
A man is not what he is because of the teachers he has had, but because of what he has done.
Never help a child with a task at which he feels he can succeed.
The greatness of the human personality begins at the hour of birth. From this almost mystic affirmation there comes what may seem a strange conclusion: that education must start from birth.
We habitually serve children; and this is not only an act of servility toward them, but it is dangerous, since it tends to suffocate their useful, spontaneous activity.
He who is served is limited in his independence
These words reveal the child's inner needs: "Help me to do it alone."
When dealing with children there is greater need for observing than of probing.
